Moyne, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon and formerly of Kilbrittain, Co. Cork.

March 13th, 2021 (Peacefully) in his 91st year, at University Hospital, Castlebar

Pre-deceased by his son, Michael Anthony.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Nora, son Gerard, daughters Catherine (Crean) and Brenda, grandchildren Henry, James, Declan, Jacqueline, Patrick and Shauna, , great-grandchildren Henry Óg, Willow and Autumn, son-in-law Henry, daughter-in-law Teresa, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Gerald will be removed from The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Tuesday at 10.45am to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Fairymount (via Moyne and Barnahalla) arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11.30am, followed by interment in Tibohine (new) cemetery. However, in line with Government and H.S.E advice regarding public gatherings, a small private funeral will be held. The Hayes family would ask that over the coming days, everyone who knew him would take some time to light a candle or say a prayer in his memory.

For those who would have liked to attend the Mass but cannot due to the current restrictions, Gerald’s Mass will be streamed on Sharkey Funeral Directors Facebook page 

In keeping with HSE, NPHET and Public Health guidelines, attendance at funerals is limited. Please respect the privacy of the family during this difficult time. If you would like to pay your respects along the way, please join the static Guards of Honour as the funeral cortège makes its way. Please ensure you maintain the recommended social distancing at all times keeping to the 2-metre apart guideline.
